Meet Our Team

Kerry Murray
Owner Floor Source Inc.

I started in the industry in 1990 working for two local floorcovering dealers.

I founded Floor Source in November 1998 with a desire to take customer service to another level. My experience in the industry to that point showed me areas where some serious issues had a constant negative effect on customers and the only way I was going to be able to tackle these issues was to do it on my own. From managing cash flow to hiring professional installers I was determined to have an impact in the region. I started out in the old Chess King building on the corner of Hammond and Tainter St. in Worcester and then moved to my current location in Auburn in 2002. In 2004 I opened our showroom to the public. Previous to being opened to the public I worked with many new home builders working with buyers by appointment only.    I also serviced many apartment complexes, town housing authorities, senior housing and main street commercial work. I did a lot of bid work as well on a myriad of projects including schools, churches, hospitals and more. Today I continue all of the above in conjunction with operating a retail showroom open to the public. We just recently upgraded our showroom and have the latest in styles and colors in all categories

My key to success is communication. I teach my staff that the customer wants to know their order is in good hands. Work with a sense of urgency. Call the customer with status before they have to call us. Call the mill to check on their orders. Call the installer to confirm the schedule. In order to keep on schedule and satisfy customers we need to “ Communicate”.

Our BBB rating is A+ but more important than that is our zero complaint status. I enjoy being part of the community and look forward to seeing my customers at the market. I appreciate any opportunity to help direct a customer into the right product for their application.

I am happily married with four children and three grandchildren. I enjoy golfing and cooking but most important is spending time with the family.

Paige Murray
Executive Administrator

I began working at an international woman’s clothing store in 2011. At this retail store I worked my way up to key holder and then to assistant manager within 3 years. These positions allowed me to learn key aspects of business and management which I am now able to apply to my position at Floor Source as Executive Administrator. As the administrator I am responsible for all internal and external communications in the financial department and maintaining the general organization of the company. Although I don’t typically work out on the sales floor I am always available to help answer any questions a customer might have. I constantly strive to expand my knowledge in the flooring world and small business processes so that I can better serve our clientele. I enjoy working at Floor Source, being part of the team, and seeing happy customers with finished projects.

I started my journey in the flooring industry in 1992 as a carpet and vinyl installer’s helper. It wasn’t long before I was a capable installer in my own right and began to handle my own jobs. In 1994 I moved toward the retail/warehousing side of things by finding positions with a couple of known local dealers. It was at one of these companies that I initially met who would someday become a strong mentor for me. This is, of course, a reference to Kerry Murray, owner of Floor Source Inc. It was during this time I learned about the many aspects of warehouse management. Following this I worked a few years as a Flooring Sales Specialist at a couple of known box stores before finally opening my own installation business in 1999. Over the course of the following decade I built a reputation for tile and hardwood with particular attention to custom bathroom design and installation. Throughout these years I worked on a large number of projects with Floor Source, many of which are available for viewing on our own website. In late 2008 I found myself in the position of needing to downsize like many contractors I know due to issues with the economy. Over the next four years I worked exclusively on custom bathrooms with a single employee until, in mid-2012, I became aware of an opportunity to join the team at Floor Source. I have been with Floor Source now for three years and have learned even more about the industry that I have devoted my attention to under Kerry’s guidance. I find I’m not only able to exercise my creativity here, but I have more access to industry innovations as well as the latest tile designs. As I believe one should never stop learning I find myself in an ideal situation. These circumstances allow me to continue designing the bathroom projects I so enjoy while staying ahead of the competition in terms of technical proficiency, ease of installation, and quality of the finished project. I have found a home at Floor Source and plan to be here for many years to come.

Tim Palumbo
Project Manager

Apprenticed with a seasoned professional flooring contractor for three years. Started my own flooring  contracting installation business. Worked closely with builders; facilities managers; general contractors; homeowners; in all types of flooring needs, for over sixteen years. I accepted a position with a large local company in the building industry, about eighteen years ago. My responsibilities as a sales associate were to sell all types of flooring to the homeowner and new construction builders. As a project manager, for the same company, I serviced general contractors, and builders, for their flooring projects. From large commercial buildings, to new home construction, as well as kitchen and bath remodeling projects. When I was interviewed for my position with Floor Source, I was struck by the innovative, enthusiasm, forward thinking of the staff, and the awesome designer showroom! I gladly joined the Floor Source team! I have been using all of my skills and expertise here for almost two years. Please come in and see for yourself the difference shopping at Floor Source can make, for all your flooring needs.

A lifelong resident of the Worcester County area, I am a United States Navy Veteran. I served 1975 -1980 and was sent to Topgun in 1980 as an aviation structural trouble-shooter on the F-14 Tomcat jet. After enlistment I attended Central New England College and then entered the flooring profession as a carpet installer’s helper. After my apprenticeship, I was a flooring contractor for over 30 years, doing installments for a number of southern Worcester County stores.

My duties have included sales, estimating, installation and cleaning carpets, both commercial and residential. In 2004 I opened a distribution warehouse for one of the largest hard-surface companies in the nation; I supplied local stores and contractors with hardwood and laminate flooring as well as hard-surface cleaning supplies.

After this I moved into flooring sales, area rug repair and binding, design, and fabrication for the largest furniture companies in New England. I am a master flooring craftsman with experience across a wide range of material and service types, but under the leadership of Kerry and with the guidance of the fine professional associates of Floor Source, I hope to advance by expanding my already-substantial knowledge even further. We have enough experience here at Floor Source to help you pick out the right flooring for your next project, so don’t hesitate to visit our showroom.
